The Hospitality sector faces a number of structural challenges, such as staff shortages, relatively high turnover, and the inflow and outflow of talents in Hospitality education. The sector's image as a temporary or part-time sector also limits the influx of new employees. Furthermore, technological developments, such as AI and automation, and the need for sustainability are challenges that the sector must address.
At the same time, the sector offers numerous opportunities. The work is attractive due to the variety of roles, flexible contracts and working hours, training opportunities, and career advancement possibilities. The increasing demand for Hospitality workers is also leading to growth in employment in the sector. Collaboration with educational institutions is also seen as a way to further develop programs that meet the demands of the labor market.
The Hospitality Pact is supported by employers' organizations, employees' organizations, educational institutions, and the government. The organizations involved are:
The Hospitality Pact provides a collaborative framework in which the sector works together on solutions for labor market issues. By connecting branches, educational institutions, and the government, the necessary strength is created to further develop the sector and address important challenges in the labor market. The Hospitality Pact focuses on four program lines, which also form our four working groups: Research & Innovation, Social Policy, Education Policy, and Labor Market Branding. These working groups are staffed by experienced professionals from various branches within the Hospitality sector. They combine their knowledge and expertise to address the sector's key challenges. Each working group annually develops a plan with objectives related to challenges within their program line. The working groups are working on elaborating the challenges within our sector. With this joint effort, the Hospitality Pact is working on solving labor market issues in the sector.
An important initiative stemming from the Hospitality Pact is the campaign Discover Hospitality. This campaign aims to inform and inspire people to choose a career or education in the Hospitality sector. They do this by showcasing challenging content from the field. For more information, visit: https://ontdekhospitality.nl/en. Given that the Hospitality Pact was only recently launched, other initiatives and solutions within the 4 focus areas of the HP are still in development.
Companies can join the Discover Hospitality campaign by sending an email to info@2bemyguest.nl, but companies cannot directly join the Hospitality Pact. Within the Hospitality Pact, companies are represented through the industry associations KHN, ANVR, HISWA-RECRON, CLC-VECTA, and Veneca. These industry associations play an active role within the working groups of the Hospitality Pact. Through Discover Hospitality, companies can contribute to promoting the sector. In addition, participation offers companies the opportunity to present themselves as attractive employers during this campaign and to publish job vacancies of their company.
